The Spiderweb Symbol in Robert Collado’s Día de los Muertos Art
Robert Collado uses the spiderweb as a contemporary symbol of ancestry, memory, family and artistic connection. Each strand represents a person, story or generation, while the complete web represents the lasting bonds between the living and those who came before us. This modern interpretation appears throughout Collado’s Los Angeles metalwork and is presented as his original artistic contribution—not as an ancient or universally traditional Día de los Muertos symbol.
